The People's Bank of China has issued a new series of 2024 Ausicious Cutlture Gold and Silver Proof Coins in May 2024. Minted by Shanghai Mint, Shenyang Mint and Guobao Mint.

The new issues consist of one bi-metal coin, three gold coins and four coins, representing four themes:

Common Obverse Designs: All coins bear the common obverse design, featuring the design of the Chinese Characters 吉祥” (Auspiciousness), against traditional Chinese auspicious patterns, the title of PRC and the year date.

(1) Birthday (every birthday is a gift), one gold and one silver coin. Reverse designs: 5 grams gold coin: Feature a decorative design of a pinwheel, the Chinese idiom “yi sui yi li” (every birthday is a gift), and the face value. 100gram silver coin: Features a decorative design of a bowknot, clouds, stars and lines, the Chinese idiom “yi sui yi li”, and the face value.

(2) Offspring (endless circle of life), one gold and one silver coin. Reverse designs: 5 grams gold coin, ruyi-shaped feature ginkgo fruits with leaves, the Chinese idiom “sheng sheng bu xi” (endless circle of life), and the face value. 30gram silver coin, ruyi-shaped features a combined design of dolphins, waves, coral and starfish, the Chinese idiom “sheng sheng bu xi”, and the face value.

(3) Love (two hearts beat as one), one bi-metal and one silver coin (first bi-metal coin in heart shape). Reverse designs: Bi-metal coin (5gram gold + 3gram silver), heart-shaped feature a decorative design of heart patterns, the Chinese idiom “xin xin xiang yin” (two hearts beat as one), and the face value. 30gram silver coin, heart-shaped features a decorative design of swans, a heart, flowers, the Chinese idiom “xin xin xiang yin”, and the face value.

(4) Happiness (perfect and flawless), one gold and one silver coin. Reverse designs: 3 grams gold coin feature a decorative design of a vase, the Chinese idiom “shi quan shi mei” (perfect and flawless), and the face value. 15gram silver coin features a decorative design of a phoenix, the Chinese idiom “shi quan shi mei”, and the face value.
