To commemorative the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Bank of China Macau Branch as one of the note-issuing banks in Hong Kong and Macau respectively, have issued the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Commemorative Banknote in the denomination of HK$20 and MOP$20 respectively.
The front side of the commemorative Banknote features the relic of the ancient Olympic stadium, the Beijing 2008 Olympic stadium, the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games emblem, the Bank of China (BOC) Tower in Hong Kong (HK Dollar) and the Bank of China Building in Macau (MOP Dollar). These images embody the harmonious blending of ancient civilization and modern culture, reflecting the history and development of the Olympic Spirit from generation to generation.
On the reverse side of the Banknote is the Beijing Olympic Stadium, or the Nation Stadium (known as the the "Bird"s Nest"), along with the traditional Chinese lucky clouds graphic, as well as the city flower of Hong Kong - the bauhinia (HK Dollar), and that of Macau - the lotus (MOP Dollar). These icons signify the passion of and best wishes form the people of Hong Kong and Macau towards the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
