Shawnee Nation 2011 The Great Comet of 1811 (Tecumseh's Comet) Silver Dollar Proof Coin
The Great Comet of 1811 was called Tecumseh’s Comet because of its visibility during Tecumseh’s War. This exceptionally bright comet was visible for 260 days and will not be seen again until the year 4876. It was previously seen in the time of the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II and the wandering of the Israelites (c.1285 B.C.E.), and could possibly have been the source of “The Lord went before them … in a pillar of fire by night to give them light” (Exodus 13:21).
