The US $100 bill is a legal tender currency of the United States, and is the largest denomination that has been printed since 1969. It features American founding father Benjamin Franklin on the obverse of the bill. On the reverse of the banknote is an image of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The US $100 bill is often referred to as a Benjamin, in reference to the use of Benjamin Franklins portrait being prominently featured on the denomination. Although Benjamin Franklin was not a President of the United States, he was an extremely important statesman, inventor and diplomat during and after the formation of the country. The US $100 bill is the most popular banknote of the United States, and is used globally around the world, as nearly two-thirds of all $100 bills circulate outside the United States.
