Takeda Shingen (December 1, 1521 - May 31, 1573) was a true samurial lord and one of the most-famous military leaders of Japan.

Known as "The Tiger of Kai", Shingen engaged in nmerous battles and retained a remarkable number of samurai warlords, 24 in total, throughouts his lifetime.

His battle tactics were based on "Swift as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Fierce as Fire and Immovable as a Mountain" which he adopted from Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan (means Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain") a military strateegy by the Chinese strategist, Sun Tzu, and author of the Art of War.

At age 49, Shingen passed in Kai Province, what is now Yamanshi, pursuing his desire to control Japan.

He was also an accomplished poet in his youth and celebrated in numerous publications, movies, TV and modern Anime and video games even today.

A 3-day festival is held annually in his resting place of Yamanashi preferecture.
