LUCKY OCTOPUS, LUCKY COIN, IN FULL COLOR, IN GIFT BOX. An octopus embraces a soccer ball with one arm and the flag of Spain in another on new Five Dollar color coins issued by the Republic of Liberia. These coins are a tribute to Paul the Octopus, who lives in a tank at Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany, and who correctly predicted the outcome of 8 out of 8 matches in the 2010 World Cup—which was won by Spain. Paul was presented with food in two identical containers - one with the German flag and another with the opponent country's flag. Whichever food Paul chose, was considered as his favorite team. The BBC reported Paul’s retirement from making predictions on July 12, 2010. His owners stated "He won't give any more oracle predictions – either in football, or in politics, lifestyle or economy. Paul will get back to his former job, namely making children laugh."
