Save nearly 40% -- this 2-coin silver set catalogs for $40 in The Standard Catalog of World Coins. Includes a Brilliant Uncirculated 1/2 Sheqel (7.2 gm., 850 fine silver) and a Proof 1 Sheqel (14.4 gm., 850 fine silver). Coins come in individual clear capsules. Scarce, fewer than 9,000 of each coin minted. Jericho is one of the world's oldest cities. These coins are very historic, since Jericho is no longer in Israel (it was transferred to the Palestinian authority in 1994). Design features pillars from the palace of the Khalif Hisham (724-43 AD) and ruins of a round tower from neolithic times; also a 7-branched candelabrum and the words "Peace in Israel" as appeared on the mosaic floor of an ancient synagogue in Jericho.
