China 2015 Xu BeiHong 1/4 oz Gold and 1 oz Silver Proof 2-Coin Set

The People's Bank of China has released a set of commemorative coins in honor of the 120th anniversary of the birth of China's modern painting master, Xu Beihong. Xu Beihong is one of the most prolific artists featured on Chinese coins, as his work has been widely featured on many coin sets issued by China. As an artist, Xu Beihong was highly influential not only in China, but also in the worldwide artist community. A 4-coin set has been issued, with 2 gold and 2 silver coins making up the collection. All coins are legal tender in the PRC, and feature some of Xu Beihong’s most popular works along with his calligraphic signature and face value. The 1/4 ounce round gold coin is colorized and has a denomination of 100 Yuan, a mintage of only 10,000 coins, and features “Red Autumn Leaves and Magpies.” The 1 ounce silver coin has a denomination of 10 Yuan, a mintage of only 20,000 coins, and features “Harmony of Two immortals.”
