2011 Panda Coin Design and Mintages Mintages Announced
Over 1.3 billion Chinese seem to have an ever-increasing appetite for the Panda coins-- that also have proven to be very popular with collectors and bullion buyers around the world.
Thus, Panda coin mintages will increase dramatically in 2011—by up to 275%--compared with 2010. The biggest increase will be for the 1 oz. silver coin, with a maximum authorized mintage of 3 million, compared with 800,000 pieces issued in 2010. The popular 1 oz. gold Panda mintage will stay the same--at 300,000 coins.
The other denominations and mintages for 2011 vs. 2010 are: 5 oz. silver (20,000 vs. 10,000); 1 kilo silver (8,000 vs. 4,000); 1/20, 1/10, ¼ and 1/2 oz. gold (200,000 each vs. 120,000 each).All of the 2011 Panda coins feature the same designs—the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven, along with a mother and baby panda.
