The People's Bank of China has just issued a new commemorative set through official distributor Panda America. Gold & silver coins make up a collection honoring the historic and famous mountains of Wu Dang, located in the North Western part of Hubei Province in the center of China. The mountains of Wu Dang are known for the many Taoist monasteries found there - which became academic centers for the research, teaching and practice of meditation, Chinese martial arts, traditional Chinese medicine, Taoist agriculture and related arts. The first site of worship—the Five Dragon Temple—was constructed during the Tang Dynasty (618–907). Other noted temples include the Golden Hall, Nanyan Temple and the Purple Cloud Temple. The monasteries and buildings of Wu Dang were made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
These coins are 99.9% pure & have extremely low mintages - 30,000 pieces for the Gold coin & just 60,000 pieces for the Silver coin. The coins come with a certificate of authenticity and are packaged in an attractive wooden box with a detailed design on the front of the box.
