Rare, High
Quality Gold
Reasonably Priced
In
the 1880s, Leopold II, King of Belgium sent Henry Morton Stanley
to find Dr. Livingston ("Dr. Livingston, I presume")
and explore the interior of the Congo. Even though King Leopold
reigned for 44 years (1865-1909), he issued only a single gold
coin in the 1880s - 20 Franc coins in 1882. These coins are the
last year of issue of this type and are also the lowest mintage
issued from 1867-1882).
These 20 Franc
gold coins contain 6.45 gm. of 900 fine gold, more than a U.S. $3
gold piece (5 gm. of 900 fine gold). We are pleased to offer a small
group of Belgium 1882 20 Franc coins in exceptional quality at remarkably
low prices.
These
1882 Belgium gold coins, in exceptional Brilliant Uncirculated quality,
are available on a strict first come - first served basis as follows

And we are pleased
to offer another small group of European gold coins in Choice Brillaint
Uncirculated quality. Issued by Denmark at the turn of the previous
century (1900). These are often referred to as the "Little Mermaid"
type because they depict a seated young girl with a fish on her left,
reminiscent of the famous story by Hans Christian Anderson, when a
young mermaid's grand-mother says "When you have reached your
fifteenth year you will have permission to rise up out of the sea,
to sit on the rocks in the moonlight."
These 10 Kr gold
coins contain 4.48 gm. of 900 fine gold, more than a U.S
$2 1/2 gold piece (4.18 gm. of 900 fine gold), that would sell for
over $600 in similar quality. Here's what these over 100 year old
Brilliant Uncirculated "Little Mermaids" will cost you:
