Issues Sets of Consecutively Numbered Notes
China has issued
a magnificent oversized (10" x 15") full color book-album,
weighing nearly four pounds, that holds nine uncut minisheets of 4
consecutively numbered notes issued in the Fourth Series of Renminbi
(also known as Yuan). These notes will soon be completely replaced
by the fifth series. Included is a serial numbered certificate, indicating
that "there are only 250,000 collection sets."

Four-note uncut
sheets comprise nine denominations issued by The People's Bank of
China from 1980-1990: 100, 50, 10, 5, 2 and 1 Yuan; 5, 2 and 1 Jiao.
The front of each colorful note features members of different ethnic
groups (Buyi, Dong, Gaoshan, Han, Hui, Korean, Manchu, Miao, Mongolian,
Tibetan, Uygur, Yao, Yi, and Zhuang). The backs of the Yuan notes
depict both natural and man-made scenic wonders like the Great Wall,
Mount Qomolandma, Hu Kou Waterfall, etc. The large 100 Yuan note pictures
four Chinese leaders: Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De,
while the 50 Yuan note shows portraits of a worker, peasant and an
intellectual. Each back contains the inscription "The People's
Bank of China" in phonetic English, Mongolian, Tibetan, Uygur
and Zhuang.
