year of the dog runs from January 29, 2006 to February 17, 2007.

regarded as loyal, trustworthy, honest, and ethical.

reverse of each silver coin and Chow on the reverse of each gold

Each
flawless proof quality silver coin is struck from 99.9% pure silver.
It has a mirror-like reverse depicting a frosted image of a Golden
Retriever. The Chinese character for 'dog' and the 2006 year-date
also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional 'P'
mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadly effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
II and the monetary denomination (Australian legal tender) are shown
on the obverse.
Just
1,000 individual 2 oz. coins will be released. Additionally, The
Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 Three-Coin Sets, comprising
a 2 oz., 1 oz. and 1/2 oz. coin, and just 2,500 1 oz. coins and
pin sets.
The
series is distinguished by red leatherette presentation cases, which
are housed within attractive colored sleeves. A numbered Certificate
of Authenticity accompanies individual coins and sets.
Each
superb proof quality gold coin is struck from 99.99% pure gold.
The mirror-like reverse of each 2006 gold Proof Lunar coin portray
a frosted image of a Chow. The Chinese character for 'dog' and the
2006 year-date also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional

7,000 individual 1/4 oz. coins will be released. Additionally, The
Perth Mint will release no more than 3,000 Three-Coin Sets comprising
a 1 oz., 1/4 oz. and 1/10 oz. coin.
The
Three-Coin Set is housed in a timber presentation case, which is
encased within an attractive outer sleeve. Individual coins are
presented in green leatherette cases, which also come within attractive
outer sleeves. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies
the set and individual coins.
